Plastic Trash Crafts

I love that crafting teaches you how to use materials you might normally throw away. In the case of plastic, learning how to re-use every last bit is not only economical, but is also very important for the environment. Did you know plastic does not biodegrade? All the plastic that we have ever produced is still with us, filling up landfills all over the world. You may use reusable shopping bags to reduce the number of bags that enter your home, but then you have the inevitable packaging of any and all consumer items in plastic. Turn that plastic into something fun and functional with 8 Ways to Craft with Plastic Trash.

I love this idea for re-using 2-liter plastic bottles. Though Halloween is still far away, you can use this concept to create luminaries with stars and other designs any time of year. For more ideas, see 8 Ways to Craft with Plastic Trash

nice idea… don’t exactly know that it becomes more than “green washing” as it more than likely only delays the entry into landfill and then there’s the use of paints – will folks always use “green” options (is there one)? Anyway… other than the (common) assumption that it’s green, it’s very nice, and I might do this myself for/with the kids. (again, re-use is only green when it is used vs. buying something else… so this craft is not automatically green for folks who then buy paint for it, or continue to buy other Halloween items in addition… only green when the re-use is *instead* of other mass produced plastic items… otherwise, merely a nice craft).
