Here’s today’s post:

Christmas is still a few months away, but it’s never too early to start thinking about what gifts you want to give. And there’s definitely nothing better than recieving a handmade and personalized gift from someone close to you. Why not make sure the people you’re giving gifts to know you’ve been thinking about them by giving them something handmade?

I found so many cool projects on AllFreeSewing that would work as amazing gifts for a lot of my friends. I know my tech savvy friends and my wanna-be tech savvy father would love to get some of these cool gadget covers. I found this iPad Case that I know will be made in several different fabrics and handed out to a few people.

After I make one of these Kindle Keepers for myself, I am going to make two more for my other book-loving friends. One of them I will probably substitute with a button, since my male friends are generally not bow friendly.

This Zippered Laptop Sleeve is a great present for anyone who travels around with their laptop a lot.

Now, of course, not everyone has friends and family that love gadgets, but I bet there’s at least one cook in every household! I found this super cute apron shape. I’m not a huge fan of sunflowers personally, so I would probably use different fabric. Either way it make one adorable apron that I know my mother would love!

And if the apron wearer in your house is a gardener, I’ve got you covered there too! This Easy Gardening Apron would be perfect for that.

When it comes down to it, I plan on putting my sewing machine to work this holiday season and seeing if I can pull out some cute, fun, and completely personal gifts for the people I love. There are so many other ideas out there like a grocery tote for my sister, some stuffed toys for my nieces, and a catnip mouse for the family cat!

What are you sewing for this holiday season!

So far on the list of gifts I will be making are 3 14″ rag dolls with wardrobes of course (make that 4) 2 soft story books, and an assortment of rattles, toys and stuffed animals.

  2. I didn’t know it was national sewing month. I guess I’ll have to make something.

  3. I usually sew pajamas for the grandkids.

  4. Jammies!

  5. Those are some very nice gift ideas.

  6. We call it the “sewing season” instead of the holiday season around here. Not really, but I do enjoy making gifts and like to get started fairly early. Nothing says love like a handmade gift.

  7. Kitten With A Whiplash says:

I do more knitting than sewing for gifts, but as my sewing improves, I hope to have the confidence to make more gifts.

  8. i plan to make several “I SPY” quilts for the grandkids, and great nieces and nephews! i really enjoy sewing simple gifts that the kids can enjoy!

  10. I love the way that electronics cozies add a soft, feminine touch to our technology!

  11. National Sewing Month

I have so many gift ideas rolling around in my head… I currently have 2 wallets made for bday gifts, one purse in progress for a bday, and i bought fabric today for a car seat canopy for a friend that is due in a couple weeks! So fun making gifts that are personal!

  12. I have absolutely no idea! I need to get busy and make a list because it’s just around the corner, isn’t it? My daughter, though, is already on the ball … she’s busy making jewelry for some of the ladies on her list (ooh, I hope I’m on there … she makes beautiful stuff!!)

  13. Risa Culpepper says:

Tote bags! They are quick to make and everyone needs another tote bag! I like using denim so it’s sturdy and will last a long time.

  14. Christmas just isn’t Christmas if I don’t pick at least one person from my list to get something I’ve made especially for them that reflects their personal home, hobby or business needs/interests in their favorite colors and kinds of fabrics. There is nothing like the joy of that kind of “giving” — which is why it “makes” the Season for me.

  15. Looking to make some flannel pjs for the fam!

  16. This is my second (or tied for first) thing I’m excited about learning to sew for!!!

  17. great ideas! thanks for sharing
