Kid’s Saturday: Sunday School Crafts

Posted by Caitlin on July 3rd, 2010 at 06:00am

Kids Sunday school craft projects bring back fun memories for me, mostly memories of being covered in construction paper and glue.  I still remember the first Sunday school project I made.  It was a red, glittered cross crafted from popsicle sticks, paint and held together with a small magnet. I proudly displayed it on my parent’s fridge, near the bottom of the door which was as far as my 6-year-old arms could reach.  I felt a sense of pride in my creation and loved working with my schoolmates as we decorated our “masterpieces.”  And even though I still don’t have a quarter of the talent of Monet, I’ll never forget making projects in school.

Creating kid’s Sunday school craft projects isn’t anything new, but it’s still important today.  Teachers are always looking for new ideas to get their students involved in the crafting world.

Here are a few projects that will help all aspiring, little Picassos explore their creativity:

  1. Rainbow Snake: With the help of an adult to use the wire cutters and a few STYROFOAM™  balls, this slithery friend is simple to put together.  It is also a great way to remind children of the important lessons they learned, like those about faith and love.

  2. Cross Felt Ornament:  This is a great project to make if you’re looking for versatility.  Glue together Felt and a ribbon rose to make an ornament, a doorknob decoration or add a long tassel to fashion a bookmark.Cross Felt Ornament Kids Saturday: Sunday School Crafts
  3. Bottle Cap Crosses: If you’re searching for personalized kid’s Sunday school craft projects, this is a great one for kids to create.  Creative juices are sure to flow as kids use bottle caps and small pictures to make unique crosses filled with images of people and things they love.
