Involve the Kids this Christmas!

Pardon the premature nature of this blog post, but I was thinking recently how quickly the holiday season creeps up on us. I know it’s a bit early to be talking about it, but I always find myself scrambling to get things done before Christmas Day. If I would stop and think about gift ideas and things… now… Christmas shopping and entertaining might not seem like such an overwhelming task when the holiday season gets into full swing.

One of the ways to really involve the kids in holiday preparations is to have them help you make new ornaments for the tree. These can make great gifts and home decor – two birds, one stone! Another fun idea is to have them decorate storage boxes and gift boxes in creative ways that express their love for each other and their love of the holiday season. I personally have a love for homemade gifts from the heart, like these mosaic mirror ornaments with the kids’ pictures in the center.

All of these gifting and decorating ideas can be started pronto, while you have some spare time this summer, so that the task of getting gifts made and the house properly decorated won’t seem as ridiculous when the time comes.
