We’re getting down to the wire – Christmas is in 9 days! We have some easy holiday entertaining ideas if you haven’t been on the ball about preparing this year. Now is a good time to start thinking about the details that will go into your holiday party, and how to incorporate some extra holiday entertaining ideas into your decorations and table scape. Also, if you haven’t already, put up your Christmas tree!
Easy Holiday Entertaining Ideas:
- Since we’re running out of time, don’t spend all afternoon creating decorations for your holiday party. Keep it simple and elegant. Grab an old crystal clear vase and fill it with small, festive Christmas ornaments. Centerpiece #1. Check. Follow this tutorial for elegant Gold Scalloped Ornaments.

- For an added decorative element to your mantel, side table or windowsill, use styrofoam cubes and wrap them with holiday wrapping paper. Colors like silver and gold are appropriate for winter and look elegant around your house. Wrap them in ribbon or tulle and you’re done!
- If you have a bit of extra time, spray paint the cubes with frosty colors and add berries and pine cones for embellishments – like these Gift Packages on FaveCrafts.

- Instead of going all out on fancy schmancy placemats for your holiday table, consider using a plain piece of holiday fabric or brightly colored (red or green) rectangle felt. You can pick these items up at the craft store, and you’re practically finished!
- Another easy holiday decoration using felt, can be made with the kids in no time. By cutting out tree shapes from a green sheet of felt and decorating it with colorful felt circles for ornaments – you can have a freestanding 3D Christmas tree for your dining table in no time. Your kids will think it’s super fun too. Just follow this tutorial for the pattern and instructions.

- The last of our easy holiday entertaining ideas is to end the night with a simple Christmas card for your guests. As the host, it is nice to have some type of favor that shows you thoughtful side. Because let’s face it, Christmas day will be hectic. Create a simple Christmas card with a nice little phrase that shows holiday warmth and love.
- It can be as simple as taking a piece of cardstock and pasting a construction paper ornament or snowflake on top. Use postcard style cardstock so you aren’t tempted to write long letters to all your guests. Remember, keep it simple! I like this card from Terri Sproul that you can find on FaveCrafts.
