Carla is looking for a wood pattern. She asks,
I am looking for a certain pattern. Can you please let me know if you do or do not have it? Several years ago I did a wood project and I want to do it again, but I don’t have the pattern anymore and have not found it anywhere else. It was a sideways figure of a girl (or woman) and a boy (or man). The reason I say either one is because I decorated them with cloth, lace, felt, ribbon, etc. They were about 18 to 24 inches high and they were to be hung on a wall, but have been used in different ways. As I said it was just one side and the girl had a bonnet and the boy had a hat. They did not have eyes because they were covered by the bonnet and hat. I made 15 pair of them and sold them in two hours. I quit doing them because I had a very stressful full time job. I am now on disability and have time to make them. Please help me if you can.
Can you help? If so, post your answer in the comments.

Hi Carla,
I quilt and theres a pattern for a boy and girl that sounds like the same shape. You could use it to cut out wood shapes. It maybe called ‘Sunbonet Sue’ not sure the name for the boy. If you go to the Quilt list here on Fave it my be there, or type in Sunbonet sue quilt on the web you will get it! Let me know how it works out!
Hi, this sounds like sunbonnet sue and coverall sam. We used to use them as quilting patterns too! Google them and see if that’s what you had in mind.
good luck, and let us all know.

Try to Google “Sunbonnet Sue” patterns -there is also Sunbonnet Sam – I found lots of websites with information – I think is the pattern you are looking for – Good Luck
sunbonnet sue and fisherman fred or he could be suspender sam embroidery library has alot of these good luck
I made several sets of these in the 90′s, but do not have a pattern for them. I drew my own. However, the above suggestion of using Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam patterns would work well. Just modify the hat and bonnet patterns to suit the shape you want. Of course, the clothing style you use makes all the difference. Good luck.
Hi Carla. This site has a simple applique pattern of Sunbonnet Sue and Sunhat/Overall Sam whch might be suitable. http://www.freeapplique.com/sunbonnetsue.html
Here is a transfer you can get from http://www.sunbonnetsue.com: http://sunbonnetsue.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=354
Good luck and I hope you find a pattern.
I also think it sounds like the Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam series – I know they have several sites for this – have used the pattern for crochet as well as quilts.
Sounds like Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Bill or Sam to me also. There are free patterns online or look for a Sunbonnet Sue magazine or craft book. And yes they were widely used in quilting and numerous other crafts.
