FaveCrafts Celebrates National Craft Month

Posted by Karisa on February 27th, 2011 at 12:29pm

Attention crafters: March is National Craft Month! As experts and enthusiasts of all things crafty, we decided to host a special National Craft Month blog series for all of our lovely readers. Each week in March will revolve around a different craft theme:

Week 1: Knit and Crochet
Week 2:  Sewing
Week 3: DIY Home Decor
Week 4: Jewelry Making
Week 5: Miscellaneous Crafts

Check back for a new blog post every day featuring our favorite projects, new craft videos, how-to’s from the FaveCrafts editors, and a GIGANTIC, ENORMOUS, AMAZING craft giveaway at the end of the month. That’s right–we’re giving away the biggest prize ever, a gift basket chock full of crafting goodies from our craft closet. There’s something for everyone in this gift basket.

Here’s how the giveaway works: Leave a comment on any blog post labeled “National Craft Month” in the headline, and your comment will count as an entry into the giveaway. You are free to comment as often as once per blog post (for a total of 31 chances to win!). At the end of the month, we’ll pool all of the comments together and pick one lucky winner.

Good luck everyone, and Happy National Craft Month!

I look forward to all the new craft ideas I get from your site. I love crafting and experiment with all types of crafts. My sister was teaching me to crochet an afghan in 2009. She passed away in the middle of our afghan project. I felt very lost. Since, I have found your site and I am refreshing my memory with your crochet hints and relearning so much tha she taught me. Thank you very much!

  • 39. Marj  |  March 8th, 2011 at 5:48 pm

My Mother made me crochet a chain stitch until I had even tension. Then she showed me how to do various stitches, after that she wouldn’t show me I had to understand the pattern. I was upset then but now I thank her for being so strict. She also said that I could do any pattern whether it be beginners or experience, just do one stitch at a time. You know how to do the stitches. Which worked well for me.

I usually don’t wear a lot of jewelry because where I work, I am responsible for the copy machine and you wouldn’t believe how many times I have almost gotten my arm or neck yanked because my necklace or bracelet or badge got stuck on one of the open parts of the machine. So to save my neck, arm and jewelry, I only wear now when I am going out or on vacation.
