I love appliques, patches, and badges! Did you know that some appliques have an iron-on adhesive backing while others need to be sewn on (or do you need to sew at all?)? I collect patches from all the countries and cities I visit and have them on a travel tote I use around town. It’s like a mini vacation as I look at the patches and remember the fun of visiting so many different places.
I learned the hard way you can’t use just any glue to adhere appliques, patches, or badges to surfaces including fabric, wood, and canvas. If you use the wrong glue you can’t wash an item that might need some serious cleaning! And if you don’t use the right glue your appliques and patches can get rigid and stiff. Check out the video.

I’ve just started trying to sew for my granddaughter. I love the appliques, I have bought the ones with glue already on them hope they stay on if not I guess I’ll have to mark it up to lesson learned
