Knitted camping set I would like to win the moneyfolding book. And my all time favorite DIY was the baby food jar fastened to a board (to store screws, nuts and small nails in) OLD School stuff….

  2. anything with handprints and photos are the best gifts of all!

  3. I have several favorites–I have made X-stitch bowling and golf towels, needlepoint and X-stitch pics, dessert is always welcome and I always make a card. I would be happy with either the Jolly Nation decoupage cards or the Papers for Men.

  4. It is an annual tradition for my children and I to decopauge a box with their pics and place their father’s gift inside. Thank you. :-)

  5. Annette D says:

  7. Brother Ken says:

For this project you will need two empty oatmeal container, 6 toilet tissue tubes, some brown paper and some blonde colored yarn. Paint all toilet paper tubes and oatmeal boxes brown and let dry. Cut one oatmeal tube container so that one container fits into the other at 90 degrees. Glue them together. With the cut tube on the bottom, beginning at about 1 inch from the end of the top oatmeal box, cut down into the tube approximately 1 inch. Cut along the top tube so that you maintain the 1 inch dept all the way to to other end of the tube where you have also cut down 1 inch 1 inch from the end. Now take the 4 toilet paper tubes and cut each so that it fits snuggly aginst the bottom oatmeal box at about 1/2 inch in from the end so that you have 4 equal legs holding up the oatmeal tubes. Take the fifth toilet paper tube and cut it at a 45 degree angle so that it can be glued to the end cover of the oatmeal tube at the top edge of the end. Now you should have a donkey’s body made from the bottom oatmeal tube, with 4 legs and a neck coming off one end. Take the sixth toilet paper tube and cutting the neck tube in a half circular notch so it can fit the 6th tube at a 90 degree angle on the exposed end of the toilet paper tube you attached for the neck of the donkey. Set the tube at about 2/3′s it’s length is pointed down towards the surface of your work surface. With the brown paper, cut 2 triagles (for simplicity we will number the corners a,b, and c). draw the distance from a to b one and a half inches and draw the point of c two inches from the a/b axis. Bring the points a and b together and trim so that they can be glued to each side of the head toilet paper tube to form ears. With the blonde yarn, wrap around you four finger approximately twenty times. Tie a small piece of yarn around all twenty loops tightly and cut the looped yarn into opposite the tied off knot. Glue this into the top hole of the toilet paper tube between the ears made with the brown paper. Make a similar looped yarn assembly and glue this to the rear end of your donkey opposite the head end. Paint two blue or green eyes on the donkeys face and also paint a black nose and mouth. Cut two brown paper rectangles 3/4 inch wide and 1 1/4 inch long. Cut one end of the 3/4 inch side in a simi-circle. On the opposite end make cuts 1/2 inch long and 1/8 inch between cuts towards the simi-circle end. Now roll the cut end around a small pencil or straw. These are the eye lids and should be glued so that they are just touching the tops of the painted eyes. Paint the base of each leg tube black about 3/8 inch around each.
Now with your donkey complete, buy small packages of cheese, summer sausage, crackers and any other treat your Dad enjoys and stuff them into the horizonal tube on your donkeys back. You might want to put some green or red tissue paper in around the goodies in the donkeys back pack.
    Happy Hobbying!

I absolutely LOVE the Rustic Cabin Plaque for Grandpa because it’s so unique and yet simple enough for anyone to make, even me! The most meaningful craft gift that I made for my father was a framed poem that I had written about all the wonderful things He had taught me while I was growing up and in it I stressed that I had a lot to be thankful for in having him for my father. He kept that framed poem for years and would show EVERYBODY that came to visit him.
I like the Dads & Lads Book!

Here in South Africa our range of diabetic products is not overly large, so when it comes to special occasions, I have to search for something out of the ordinary to make for him. I would like the book of men’s papers. Thanks.

    the Collage Dad frame

  23. My favorite “make it” for dad was painted coffee mugs and bowls. I took the kids to one of those ceramic shops and they had a grand time painting these for their dad. And you know what? They’re still in use 10 years later! (it’s truelly amazing they are still in one piece!)

  26. Dee Toomey says:

I love all craft gifts for my dad that include photos. The best one I made for him was a key ring (he collects key rings) that I made him from a western style belt buckle. I shrunk a picture of my mom and him together (very old vintage photo) and covered it with clear plastic I saved from packaging of a product, then adhered behind the buckle, making the buckle a frame, with silver air conditioning tape. Then I bent the belt buckle prong into a loop, attaching the key ring in this loop. Hope that makes sense.

I would love to win the money folding book if I were to win.

  27. I made a dozen roses out of duct tape once – it was a nice way to decorate the tool box!

  37. My dad only ever wants consumable treats, so my favourite diy would have to be cooking. At christmas this year I made figs in syrup, a hit! Basically just get some dried figs, cook up a pot of sugar syrup, and stew those figs for a few hours, then pop em in a jar with the syrup and refridgerate until they are fully rehydrated. Yummy. I’d love the money folding book, what a great way to give cash gifts with flair.

My husband has really gotten into all the crafting that I do. He always asks me to make him things and he allows me to show him what I am doing. He even attempts some projects himself. I also Include my son. For father’s day we are crocheting dad a pillow with # 1 DAD embroidered on it. But I know he would also love the folding money book, he has tried some of the money folding techniques online and he does pretty well with it.

  44. My favorite DIY gift for Dad is a quilt. I have been making quilts for a few years now and I always get such high praise for them. I’ve even made a quilted jacket.

  45. Cindy Lafferty says:

Decoupage is a great way to customize a container for Dad’s desk, workbench or hobby room.

I used old postage stamps to decoupage a small wood box I filled it with stamp hinges – a ‘never have enough’ accessory for stamp collectors.

  46. Penny Abbott says:

The best Fathers Day present made so far has been one that was at first a dissapointment to him, then he realized what it actually was. It was a clear salad bowl of crumbled money that looked like lettuce. I used red pom poms for cherry tomatoes, large orange rick rack for carrots and pipe cleaners shaped into rings and colored on the outside edges with purple marker for onions. Surely a “healthy” gift that was a true surprise.
