Dryer Sheet Art

Posted by Kristen on September 4th, 2009 at 12:24pm

I just came across this adorable craft that uses dryer sheets, after they’ve done their job of making your laundry smell nice, and turns them into flowers! So it’s a recycled craft, which means it’s budget-friendly and it’s super cute and creative. This fellow crafty blogger had applied these dryer sheet flowers to greeting cards for some creative and subtle embellishments. Check out her tutorial for dryer sheet flowers. Think about the possibilities: scrapbooks, stationary, gift boxes. She called crafting with dryer sheets, “like tissue paper that doesn’t rip.” Genius! Has anyone else crafted with dryer sheets who cares to share their tips?

I like your concept of making use of recycled materials. Plus, your paper craft turned out great. It’s simple yet it exudes a unique character. :)

Years ago I used dryer sheets to trace small craft patterns onto(after they were used,of course). They make better patterns than tissue paper because you can use a marker to trace on them and it goes through to whatever you are putting it on. They also hold up better than tissue or even paper. They are easy to conform to an odd shape such as transferring an image to a rock. You can tape the sheet down, trace through it and it is still in good shape. I hope this is of use to someone. I submitted it to a craft magazine 10-15 yrs ago and got no notice at all.
