I’m not quite sure what to make of this story from GOOD magazine on DIY Funerals. In a way, it sounds to me like a touching, personal way to mourn the passing of a loved one. But at the same time, I also wonder if it’s taking the DIY movement a little too far. Read the whole story here — DIY Funerals and the Quest for Authenticity.

I am not sure whatthat is all about, but our family has been doing our own funerals for years and so have other people. It was just a matter of time that someone would write a DIY book about it.
My family doesn’t believe in all the formal trappings that go with commercial funerals, so we have informal family get-togethers to celebrate the life of our loved ones who have passed. This is often done weeks to a few months after somone has passed to allow for more of the family to attend.
