Charity Feature: Love Letters, Random Cards of Kindness

Posted by Mindy on January 29th, 2009 at 03:41pm

There is something about receiving an unsolicited card that always makes me happy. It’s just nice to know that someone is thinking of you when it’s not your birthday, anniversary, graduation or a holiday. Also, being a big fan of paper crafts in general, I will take a beautifully made card over a cheesy e-card any day. (Don’t get me wrong, some e-cards are great – seriously, look at someecards.com – but I just love paper products!) That’s why I chose to feature Love Letters: Random Cards of Kindness as today’s charity feature.

Love Letters’ goal is “to create positive and inspiration homemade cards for children with life-threatening illnesses.” The group encourages people to create cards for children who range in age from newborn up to 18-years-old in the hopes that they can bring a smile to a child’s face and show that someone is thinking of them. Since its inception, Love Letters has created and distributed over 29,000 cards.

One thing I really love about this crafty charity is that you don’t have to have any crafting or really even any artistic talent to make a nice card for someone. And kids can get involved too! Love Letters is always looking for volunteers, sponsors, chapter organizers and card makers. If you are interested in getting involved in any way, learn more here.
