Be Creative with Expired or New Tampons
Posted by Christine on July 14th, 2009 at 09:05am
What’s the deal with tampons? Much to my surprise I’ve learned we can create crafts using tampons. That’s right, it’s good for any time of the month. I received a very unique craft from a guest contributor this week. Ada Barber sent in a tampon angel. I know what you’re thinking, I thought the same thing, but she put it perfectly, “Some people think this is great, others think it is gross and ridiculous.” You might as well give it a try. If for some reason you have expired tampons laying around the house you might as well get your money’s-worth and do something with it. Be creative. This tampon angel is very easy to make and it’ll make for a great conversation piece. Even if you don’t have expired tampons you can go out and buy some specific for this craft. Get out of your comfort zone and craft. Get a bunch of girls together like she did, I’m sure you’ll have a great time with it! If you like this craft project, guess what, there are plenty of other tampon crafts you can make. Check it out! What’s the most unusual craft you’ve ever made?

this is disgusting. i’m sorry, i’m never going to be able to look at one of these without thinking of what the product was originally designed for. i’m all for creative usees of stuff, but this is going too far.

Sorry folks, I say NO to this one. There is a use for this product and Christmas crafts isn’t one of them.

I think if it is done tastefully as in totally glittering or painting or wrap the tampon inlace. Using the tampon for the shape (think batting) it could be really cute. And a unique conversation piece.

So what they are made using tampons. What would be disgusting is if they had been “used” first.
It’s actually clean cotton or whatever tampons are made out of so yes I will be making these as Christmas ornaments to be attached to each package I give.
I’m just going to make sure I don’t tell anyone (except the really sick and demented family members) what the dress is actually made out of.

While it’s certainly imaginative use, I think it’s a somewhat tasteless use. If someone gave me one of these, I’d thank them politely and put it away and destroy it as time went by. I’d never hang it on my tree and would be embarrassed to tell anyone what it was made of. I don’t think this type of item should be advertised on TV and certainly don’t think it has a place hanging on the Christmas tree no matter how it is disguised.

I think these angels are neat. Who has to advertise what they were crafted with? I am sure they can be adorned with all kind of things and no one would even know what they were in the beginnig. Kudos to the creator.

I think these are quite creative and cute. I won’t have any problem making them or giving them, No one needs to know where the little cotton fiber dresses come from. I think the starch added to the water will stifen the dress and allow some clear or white glitter to stick well and comoflauge any hint of it being a tampon.

These are adorable!! I would definitely make & use these.

Would you approve of a man doing a condom craft? I don’t think so – some things are best left alone and a tampon is one of them! I would not make nor display this and I love frugal crafts and using things in the house – yes it is creative but… that is all!

No class whatsoever!

Wow! This is great. I LOVE that these ornaments were made with tampons. Big deal! It’s not like they are used. All these women that are sitting here saying this is tasteless need to lighten up!!!! I once made a great x-mas wreath for my grandparents as a kid using green garbage bags cut into strips tied around a wire coat hanger shaped into a circle. Sounds odd but is actually really cute and I am almost 30, she still uses it! Get over, it’s hilarious!

Grow a sense of humor, ladies. IT’S JUST COTTON. The fact that it happens to be in a product intended for feminine hygene just makes it hilarious, not disgusting. Christmas doesn’t have to be about perfection, and menstruation and related issues CAN be laughed at. Dare to be tasteless, tacky, and have some FUN with it. Yee haw!
