Ask Maria “Tied Tie Pattern?”

Question

I just joined FaveCrafts.com and am looking for a pattern using the old ties that had to be tied.  Do you have any pattern for this item?

I couldn’t find any specific project that required ties to be tied, but I wanted to let you know that there are many, many tie projects to be found online if you use the keywords “tie crafts” in your favorite search engine. You’ll find skirts, bags, Christmas tree skirts, swimsuits, wall art, and totes. I found ties that were twisted, knotted, sewn, cut-up, and quilted.

When asking for a pattern or project to be tracked down it’s important to be as specific as possible. I don’t know what you are trying to make, just part of the technique. Most research is done through memory (which is surprisingly excellent when it comes to crafts) or by web search engines so I need as much information as possible.  Did you mean tied as in you tie a quilt or tied as in the ties were knotted together? Was this for a piece of wearable art or maybe an accessory or necklace? Let me know and I’ll try to find your pattern.
