Art in the Park Recap: Amy White

Hey crafters!

Martinez’s Susana Street Park was in full swing this past Sunday for the 40th annual Art in the Park.

I was a first time participant in this event and didn’t know quite what to expect. You couldn’t have asked for better weather, the sun was shining and the Park has plenty of trees to provide shade for vendors as well as it’s patrons. The park was packed with booths. Many of vendors were fine artists selling paintings of landscapes as well as peddling their portraiture. There were wood workers, ceramic artisans as well as stained glass.

Hometown pride was plentiful, the food booths and musicians who played for attendees were all hometown and local favorites. My favorite booth by far was the “trash to treasure boutique” where for a small donation children were encouraged to build “junk art” magnets from recycled and reclaimed materials. The Ruthie and Friends booth was well frequented throughout the day and each member of our art collective several items. We had many happy customers who purchased our textiles, magnets, jewelry and mini-collages. I’d recommend this event for people who either make or are fond of folk-art, traditional art, or if you’re looking for one of a kind pieces to add to your collection.
