I sign up for any kind of online club or newsletter. I often receive sales and coupons in my email box every week. I also signed up for Jo-Ann’s mailers. They come in the mail about twice a month filled with all the sales and lots of coupons. The great thing is you can use multiple coupons at Jo-Ann’s. When I use their mailer and print coupons from my email the savings are endless!!!

I try to take at least 1 day a month and scour the internet looking for patterns and save them. That way I always have new patterns to create and they are at my fingertips, so no hunting. I have filed these on my hard drive as well as on flash drives (ie household is a main category, then breaks down to afghans, doilies, kitchen, livingroom and so on, then kitchen breaks down to dishclothes, towel tops, pot holders and so on. It saves on dragging around a lot of pepers & all I have to do is printout the pattern I want to work on. Hugs, Mary

I have a crocheted blanket that I have been working on that needs to be resized without taken the whole thing apart. Can I double stitch like a wide hem and cut in the middle of “this hem” so I can salvage the blanket and yarn? I am running low on yarn so I would like to know how to resize without ruining the afghan. Right now it is rectangular in shape and after resizing, I hope to make it into a large square instead. Can this be done?

One trick that I’ve passed on to my friends that crochet…
If you find that you do not chain loosely enough, use a hook 1 to 2 sizes bigger than you need for the project for just the beginning chain. This will stop things like scarves, and shawls from having a tight unstretchable line in them.

    The best prices on yarn?
Well, don’t turn away from places like Big Lots, The Dollar Tree and other discount stores that buy out other places merchandise. I have found some very beautiful boucle, fun fur, and even some alpaca and merino yarns for $1.00 or less per skein at these types of discount stores. Of course, you will always find these things when you are not shopping for them. But if you are a good friend, the minute you are home, you email the picture that you took with your cell phone of the yarn to all your crochet and knitting buddies.
Apart from that? Spin your own yarn. It’s relaxing, you can get exactly the color you want, and you do not need a lot of fancy equipment to spin. You just need a good teacher, a nicely weighted hand spindle and patience. (=
